Elijah Lovejoy
Read this short piece on Lovejoy. Find at least two other sources with additional information and post their links in the comments. Say who is the next "catalyst" character in the progress toward Civil War?
I read that slave narratives were seen as one catalyst of the American Civil War. A particular person was Frederick Dougless who published the popular "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass" in 1845. There were other were slave accounts, but Douglass' was one of the most popular.

Excellent "catalyst" character. Yes, slave narratives were all the rage with abolitionists, especially highly educated ones in Boston and other northern urban centers.
